Principal Engineer of Murdoch Engineering

Thank you for your interest in Murdoch Engineering. We are a growing structural engineering firm dedicated to serving the sign manufacturing industry exclusively.  Over the past 12 years, we have built a comprehensive understanding of sign structure construction. Our goal is to provide cost effective designs which conform to current building codes while maintaining sensible constructability. 

Many engineers have started their engineering careers behind a desk in school and go on to rarely leave that desk. One thing that separates myself from most of my engineering peers is my construction experience. I was in the construction industry for over 10 years prior to becoming a licensed professional engineer. I was not overseeing construction, I was in the trenches, hand mixing concrete and hauling semi-solid 12-inch concrete block around construction sites. I built masonry foundation walls, retaining walls and multi-story stone fireplace structures. Masons work hard, among the hardest, but I would not trade a day of this time as it has made me a better engineer.  Before this, I worked as an engine mechanic apprentice, tearing down V8 engine blocks and transmissions, then putting them back together. This real-world experience has allowed me to transcend the typical engineer’s design ability. There is no substitute for experience. 

Getting a design to meet code is easy, getting a design to cost effectively meet code and be easily constructed is another thing entirely. Murdoch Engineering is dedicated to helping sign manufacturers cut costs and build efficiently, while maintaining a high level of safety improving today’s advertising infrastructure.
